The Comparison Game

Comparison...we hear that word all the time as teenagers, but it is really true. I personally have been dealing with comparison, because I would look at myself and then look at my best friends and see some faults in myself.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a youth conference held by my church. I felt normal, but I had realized that I was comparing myself to others around me. Not only does that breed discontentment and jealousy, but also an attitude.

If we keep comparing ourselves to other people, we will never see or accomplish our destiny. "You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure." Deuteronomy 14:2. We are supposed to be unique not the same. Always remember that you are "Thumbbody special". No two people have the same fingerprint.

Be Yourself

<<<<<<A poem by Ellen Bailey>>>>

Why would you want to be someone else When you could be better by being yourself Why pretend to be someone you are not When you have something they haven't got Cheating yourself of the life you have to live Deprives others of that only which you can give You have much more to offer by being just you Than walking around in someone else's shoes Trying to live the life of another is a mistake It is a masquerade; nothing more than a fake Be yourself and let your qualities show through Others will love you more for being just you Remember that God loves you just as you are To Him you are already a bright shining star Family and friends will love you more too If you spent time practicing just being you

In this song it talks about being you, and I think it's very important to remember that.

You don't have to try so hard You don't have to, give it all away You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up You don't have to change a single thing
