Our Memory VS. God's Memory

How great is your memory? For most of us, we choose what we want to remember. Remembering what you had for lunch three days ago doesn't have as much significance to most people as what you read in your history book last night so you can ace the history exam. In fact, we only remember 3% of what happens to us. Amazing, isn't it?
Let's take a look at what the Bible has to say.
Romans 8:1, 31
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus... What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us,who can be against us?
We all have memories that we cannot get rid of, no matter how hard we try. There's always that one embarrassing moment or that simple mistake that we can never get out of our heads. But what does God have to say about that?
Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
God doesn't put our sins as far as the north is from the south. Why? Because if we start at the north, we will eventually be able to catch up with the south, or vice versa. But God says that our sins are as far as the east is form the west. Why? Just think about it. Imagine hopping on a plane in California and flying east. You'll keep going east. You will never be able to go west unless you turn the plane around entirely. So no matter whether you go east or west, you would never be able to find the other direction. God says that's how far our sins are from us. That's pretty amazing, isn't it?
Isaiah 43:25
I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
Here God says that he forgets all our sins and mistakes. He chooses to forget them forever. But what do we do? We choose to remember what God has chosen to forget. He has chosen to forget our embarrassing moments and simple mistakes, but we still remember them.
Hebrews 9:28
so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Jesus came so that you can remember your salvation and not your sin. Isn't that a wonderful reason to be grateful?
It feels amazing to know that God will forget all the silly mistakes and embarrassing moments that we feel we still need to remember. So here's one last thought for you.
What if we choose to forget what God has chosen not to remember?
