The Olympics were create to honor the Greek gods.
The Olympics started in 776 B.C. they continued until 393 A.D., when emperor Theodosious proclaimed that it was unlawful for them to honor pagan gods.
They were started to honor the "gods", mainly Zeus. The man location was Olympia also known as the island of Pelops. It became a central hub for religion and politics.
