Ape or Kid?

Earlier this week, a four year old boy fell into a Gorilla pen at the Cincinnati zoo. One of the strong gorillas, picked up the little boy and flung with tremendous force across the water. The zoo workers wanted to tranquilize it, so that they may free the young child, but it would take too long and the child would be seriously injured by then. So they did the next best thing... they shot it. Thankfully, the little boy was saved at the expense of the gorilla.

Now animal activists are upset with the zoo for killing the gorilla, but did they ever stop to think that a helpless four year old's life hung in the balance? Probably not. So I am asking which would you choose, why?
